Mumbles: The Next 10 Years |
Since it was founded in 1983, Mumbles Community Council has done much
to improve the environment and facilities in Mumbles and, through grants and
loans to voluntary organisations, has supported local groups.
Some of this work has been entirely funded by the precept e. g. the
pavement between Dunns Lane and the White Rose. Other schemes, such as the new lighting standards at Southend, have been accomplished in partnership with other agencies.
Mumbles Community Council is now considering the idea of a community
plan for the village. Over the next five months, the Council will be busy
putting together a scheme to cover all aspects of village life.
This plan will be based on what the residents and visitors have told
councillors they would like to see in Mumbles and the requests they have
made.
During the Navy Days weekend in May 2010, further information was made available and, in the Summer, an exhibition of the proposed Mumbles Plan was also made available and the residents and visitors were able to comment on it and suggest changes.
If the Mumbles Plan is to be successful, it must have the support of
the people; there is no point in pursuing unpopular schemes.
