The Welsh Ambulance Service –Have also applied for funding to provide life saving equipment for their First Responder Scheme. It is well known that the quicker medical intervention is made following a life threatening emergency such as a heart attack is much the better. The funding paid towards a range of life saving equipment including a defibrillator and oxygen, with the British Heart foundation also contributing to the cost. There are already 14 volunteers supporting the scheme and include Coastguards, Fire Officers, a medical student and Police Officers. They are receiving specialist training and will work in teams of two. Contact will be made via the Ambulance Control Centre and they will be directed to any emergency in the area.
The Mumbles and Gower Stroke Society - were awarded a grant to go towards the cost of transport for those who have been the victim of a stroke and reduced mobility.
Mumbles Rangers Boys and Girls Club - have received a grant to help towards the cost of refurbishing their changing rooms with the influx of female members now taking up the sport and the extra facilities required.
Mumbles Development Trust - has received some funding spread over the next three years to help towards its running costs as their national funding has been reduced. The Trust has undertaken excellent environmental work in the area in partnership with many other local organisations to enhance the Mumbles area and the funding will help them to continue this development work.
South West Wales Cancer Aid – received a donation from the Community Council through Mumbles Fashion Week as the named charity being sponsored throughout the week.
