Precept Reduction 2009/10 |
Mumbles councillors have agreed a 40 per cent decrease in their precept for the next year.
At its budget meeting last night the Community Council agreed a precept of £65,092 for the 2009/2010 financial year compared with £108,957 on the current year’s budget.
A band D council-tax payer will have to pay just £6.83 for the year.
"Great effort has been made by all the council committees to keep their budget requirements to a minimum in the light of the current financial situation facing the country.” said Cllr Anthony Colburn, Chairman of the Council’s Finance & General Purposes Committee.
Major initiatives for the 2009/2010 financial year will include a grant to Mumbles Rangers AFC to enable essential repairs and improvements to their changing rooms, Village Green status for the Greens at West Cross, a greener Christmas with rooted Christmas Tree planned, additional hanging baskets for street decoration, additional Christmas festoon lighting for the lamp posts, additional street cleaning and financial assistance to Mumbles Development Trust.
The popular Navy Days Festival, held over the Spring Bank Holiday weekend, will take place for the 7th year in a row.
